| I tried a few times to write a review for this
show - an overlooked classic of British cult TV - but then stumbled across
this gem on IMDB. A Spanish guy waxes lyrical about the joys of this minor
classic, and, frankly, I agreed with everything that he said. Find below
a direct reproduction of the review, with kind permission. Click here
to find this review, along with others, from the chap in question. The English
may be a bit ropey, but it is clear that the passion is heartfelt. I loved reading this: "I have not read the book, and I took much years in knowledge that existed, but the TV series is simply a masterpiece. The idea that the alien at issue projects her mind to travel by the universe (It seems to me that thus it traveled to the Earth) is innovator, and years later, It conserves Its enchantment. The cast of actors is skillful (in special the child and starring Andrew Ellams). I've got much TV series what love in my life, but this is for me the number one of the number one. I saw It when I was 7 years old, and I couldn't never forget It. "Chocky", the series, would have to show It in TV during years and years. Nothing equal exist." Quite literally, I couldn't put it better myself. Watch it. You don't know what you are missing. |

| Episode 1 | Matthew seems like a fairly ordinary boy until a mysterious,
pulsing blue light discovers him in his classroom. Instantly, he seems able
to solve complex maths problems that he previously would have been unable
to understand. Later, whilst in bed, Matthew falls into a fever and begins talking about something called 'Chocky.' |
|
| Episode 2 | Chocky seems to be influencing Matthew's actions. He asks
unusual questions in class, speaks in binary, is frustrated at the primitive
nature of his Dad's new car. His parents are puzzled by this change in personality. |
|
| Episode 3 | When Chocky gets Matthew to investigate how a boat works,
he lands in hot water and in the hands of the law. Later, Matthew gets his first glimpse of Chocky, a swirling blue mist-like vortex that appears in midair. |
|
| Episode 4 | Matthew's Mom finds some artwork that seems very
strange and, when confronted, explains that it is art as seen through the
eyes of Chocky. It's the summer holiday, and the family go for a break by the river. When a boat breaks free of its moorings, Matthew and his sister find themselves plunged into the fast moving water..... |

| Episode 5 | .....but Matthew saves the day, dragging both
himself and his sister from the river, despite the fact that he is not able
to swim. Inevitably, he explains that Chocky taught him how. Matthew's behaviour starts to gain media attention, and even his art work is put forward for an award. Chocky, apparently alarmed, disappears. |
|
| Episode 6 | Matthew is kidnapped by sinister forces and is found some
time later, dazed and confused, in Birmingham. (I know how he feels.) Chocky reveals herself to Matthew's Dad, confirming her existence before vanishing, apparently for good. |
