| Funereal doom with just a dash of folk melody,
this is heavy, brooding and mournful. The tunes creak along, guitars chugging out an aural battering, somewhat akin to being smothered by wet concrete, accompanied the whole time by haunting laments from the leads lines. Vocally we have a good mix, with male growls and clean vocals, and a female clean vocalist who is baritone and full of pent up emotion. It really is quite beautiful at times. The band as a whole are more than capable of a good crescendo, tunes breaking down into a wall of noise, using almost black metal style strumming, though much slower with trippy, hypnotic beats backing it up making it sound for all the world like a heavier version of Portishead. Pretty original, pretty cool, and very, very listenable. |
