Let me tell you a story: I have a good friend who taught me how to play guitar. I was chasing his sister and, one day, when round their house, I heard Slayer being played from behind a closed door. Introductions swiftly followed and, before you know it, I was standing on stage before lots of hairy drunk people playing some passable thrash.
As well as Slayer, this chap had a particular penchant for Candlemass, Sabbat, Sanctuary and Danzig.
Well, I got into the first three good and proper, but never really got on with the latter.
Fast forward 18 years and I finally got round to trying it again.
Well, blow me down with a slab of rotten liver, it's fucking amazing.
Blending bluesy rock with doom and classic style heavy metal, this is as tight as it gets.
The Evil Elvis tag is evident from the first moments as Glenn himself booms out over genuine classics such as Long way Back From Hell, Snakes of Christ, Her Black Wings and Devil's Plaything.
Seriously, the voice on this guy is something to behold.
Backed up by a rock solid production and a guitarist who can nail a catchy riff with apparent ease, this is assured and eminently listenable.
Very good indeed.
